The real value of Google+

The real value of Google+ will be in its data. And don’t make the mistake of thinking that it will serve any other entity than Google itself! Imagine what a goldmine it is to be able to index, sort, summarize millions no, billions of thoughts daily!

Actually, I think « mind scientists » should, if they haven’t started yet, begin to look into the science-fiction realm and dig out Isaac Asimov theories on Psychohistory.

Psychohistory combines history, sociology, and mathematical statistics to make general predictions about the future behavior of very large groups of people.

Google Trends is one example. Now apply that to politics, elections, sport results, stock exchanges. With the multiplication of data comes the increased probability of being right in your prediction.

On top of which, you could merge all of humanity DNA sequences into one gigantic database (cf., Anne Wojcicki (Mrs. Sergey Brin, a.k.a. Google). Surely, there is no link between those two companies but you never know…

So in the next 8 to 15 years, we will assist in a revolution. Not only we will « search the net » for answer from the past but the net will become smart enough to predict the future. Unless we get the 403 Error!

Will that be a good thing?
